Introduction:
The pollock belongs to the cod family and is related to the cod. It has nothing to do with salmon. It has a spicy taste and tender, juicy meat.
Use/Preparation:
The edible fish tastes good fried, baked, grilled or steamed. Pollock fillet is often used for fish fingers or as a base for meatballs.
Health:
Pollock meat is low in fat and high in protein. The fish also provides plenty of iodine, B vitamins, potassium and phosphorus.
Alternatives:
Cod has a mild taste with a slightly sweet note, similar to hake. Hake, plaice, pike-perch, halibut and pangasius can also be used as substitutes due to their comparable structure and nutritional values.
