Introduction:
The peach belongs to the rose family and is a stone fruit. It comes in various shapes and colours. The most common is the rounded peach with a yellow-red, velvety skin. But the flat peach is also popular. The flesh tastes juicy, sweet and aromatic.
Use/Preparation:
Peaches can be prepared both sweet and savoury. They taste good raw, in fruit salad, desserts, cakes, punch, on tarte flambée, as chutney, compote, jelly or jam.
Health:
Besides zinc and magnesium, peaches contain a lot of niacin (vitamin B3), which muscles, skin and nerves need for regeneration. Vitamin C and abundant polyphenols are also responsible for positive health effects.
Alternatives:
Alternatively, nectarines or apricots can be used. These fruits are also rich in health-promoting nutrients and taste excellently sweet-aromatic and juicy. In some recipes, peaches can be replaced by mango.
