Introduction:
Paprika spice is made from the dried and ground fruit of the spice pepper, which contains the pungent substance capsaicin. A distinction is made between the varieties delicacy, sweet, semi-sweet and rose paprika. As a rule, the powder also consists of additional spices such as pepper, salt, rosemary or garlic.
Use/Preparation:
The spice is used in soups, sauces, egg dishes, cheese dishes, salads, meat and fish dishes and for vegetables.
Health:
Paprika powder is rich in flavonoids, carotenoids and vitamin C. The capsaicin has a blood circulation stimulating and antibacterial effect.
Alternatives:
Cayenne pepper and chilli powder taste similar to paprika spice. Due to the high degree of heat, a smaller amount is usually needed.
