Introduction:
Candida albicans belongs to the genus of yeast fungi. It is found in almost all people as a harmless co-inhabitant in the normal skin and mucous membrane flora. However, under certain circumstances, the fungus can also become a dangerous pathogen.
Health:
Candida can lead to candidiasis if it grows excessively, causing rash, scaling, itching and swelling. Increased growth is most commonly seen with a weakened immune system, injury/inflammation, when taking antibiotics and other immune weakening medications, an excessively high carbohydrate diet or alcohol abuse. Candida infections can occur in the intestinal region, on the skin, in the oral cavity or on the genital organs.
