Introduction:
Rooibos or Rooibos tea is the finely chopped twigs and leaves of the South African rooibos plant. The colour and aroma are created by an oxidation process similar to that of black tea. The tea has a slightly sweet and fruity taste.
Use/Preparation:
Rooibos is enjoyed as an infusion beverage.
Health:
Rooibos tea does not contain caffeine and is therefore also suitable for children. It has a relaxing and balancing effect on stress. Externally, it can be used for skin inflammations and sunburn. It can also have a soothing effect on allergies.
Alternatives:
Real tea (from the leaves of the tea plant Camellia sinensis) or herbal tea such as nettle tea or chamomile tea can serve as an alternative to rooibos tea.
