Introduction:
The mirabelle is a type of plum. The cherry-sized, spherical summer fruits are yellow-reddish to red and have a fine fragrance and fruity, spicy aroma. They convince with their delicately spicy, sweet and wonderfully refreshing taste.
Use/Preparation:
The fruits taste good pure, as jam, puree, fruit sauce, juice, liqueur, schnapps, on cakes, in dumplings or with pastries.
Health:
Mirabelles are rich in potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc as well as vitamin C and beta-carotene, the precursor of vitamin A.
Alternatives:
Plums, damsons and apricots have a similar flavour and comparable nutritional values.
