Scallops are sold live, as fresh and dried mussel meat. They are also offered smoked in cans or jars.
Possible cross reaction: Scallops belong to the so called molluscs and are high in tropomysin, the main allergen of the dust mite. People who are allergic or sensitised to dust mites can react to scallops without ever having eaten one.
