Hypertension

Hypertension (HTN or HT), also called high blood pressure (HBP), is a condition in which the arteries have persistently elevated blood pressure. It can lead to damaged organs as well as several illnesses such as renal failure (kidney failure), aneurysm, heart failure, stroke, or heart attack but also vision loss or dementia.
Typically high blood pressure does not cause symptoms. However, long-term high blood pressure, is a major risk factor for stroke.
Medications but also lifestyle changes like weight loss, physical exercise, can lower the risk of health complications. Escpecially a healthy diet and decreased salt intake can lead to a lower blood pressure.
