Immune response

The immune response is the way how the body defends itself against substances which are considered as harmful or foreign. In an immune response, the immune system recognizes the antigens, usually proteins on the surface of microorganisms or foreign substances. The immune system “attacks” and initiates cellular processes to render them innocuous.
